U Co-op Launches the Rise and Shine Capital Campaign!

Since we purchased our school building in 2002, we have had our hearts and minds set on adding more space for art, science, dance, play, discovery, connection, and community – inhabiting the full footprint of our building has always been our dream. Now we get to see that dream come true! And, in true U Co-op fashion, we came together to launch the campaign with a bang – yes, mentos were involved!

The project will be phased over the next two summers and we plan to break ground on Phase One on June 5, 2023!

As many of you know – because you have been with us every step of the way – when we finish this project, our school will be 50 years old, and our school building will proudly celebrate being 100 years old! We are honored to be a part of the historic University District now and for years to come. In addition, we will have completed all earthquake retrofitting and will meet the upcoming city of Seattle requirements for seismic safety.

Over the course of this past year, we have been meeting with alumni and current families. We have had some amazing conversations, good laughs, and families have been unbelievably generous. So far, we have raised just shy of 1.2 million dollars. With more than 50% of our goal pledged, we are officially able to kick off the Rise and Shine Capital Campaign to raise the remaining funds for the project.

Our goal for the campaign is to raise between 1.75 to 2 million dollars. This goal is lofty but, with your help, we know we can do it!

We are excited to bring this project to fruition with all of you!

Thank You for Your Support

We will be updating you regularly – and updating the website – as the campaign moves forward so keep checking in.

We look forward to catching up with you and hope to connect over the coming months. In the meantime, we hope you will join us at our first big community event and the opportunity to give to this campaign at the annual auction on March 18. Please mark your calendar! We will have a special section reserved just for you, our alumni. As always, the event is free of charge and food and drinks will be provided and this year we will have special guest appearances from some of our beloved alumni students!

We are grateful for your support and excited for our alumni community to be a part of this historic time at U Co-op. We miss you and can’t wait to see you!

Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Sincerely,
Jim and Jeanne
